  • The spark is gone.

I have a Craft master 40 gallon gas water heater with a Honeywell control module. So I have been having problems with it going out about once a week for the past year. I get the 7 blinks for gas valve failure when I restart it. I blinks like that for a couple a minutes and then goes back to the normal operation 1 blink. Now, it went out again the other day qand will not even spark when the igniter button is pushed. I took the burner assembly and cleaned everything. $till I have no spark. Do you have any idea what could be going on with it or what might need replaced? Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I can't day for sure, but it is possible, the parts inside the button that makes the spark, have worn out.
But the other issue, the water heater failing once a week for a year, you may want to have someone check that out, it's not normal, and may be a sign that something is very wrong.
I answer all plumbing and heating questions, all day long.
